Going Coastal

My husband & I will soon be moving closer to the beach which will mean new house which will mean I get to decorate again! I combed the internet and found some things that I would love in my next living room. My goal is to go beachy without overdoing it adding some beachy touches here & there but not having the room look like someone threw up cheesy starfish, dolphins, and seashells. I'll update later with where to get all this snazzy stuff if I can remember where it all came from. So, here's my next living room assemblage. :)

Society 6

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled on a website called Society 6. I actually found it while shopping for art on Urban Outfitters website. Turns out that UO actually goes here to find artists work to sell on their store site as well. Pretty cool. So I decided to give it a shot. Unlike Etsy, they don't charge you any listing or transaction fees. They simply just take a cut if you sell a print. So I figured why not & decided to give it a shot. It's definitely worth checking out for artists interested in selling their work & also some really cool stuff for art shoppers too. Here's my embed/link for Society 6. :) Don't have all my prints up yet but getting there.

Birthday Girl

My little girl's 2nd birthday is just around the corner. When people say, "time flies," you realize that is such an understatement after you have kids. Seriously, she has grown so much so fast. It's bittersweet. Anywho, so I've been looking around for some gift ideas & thought I might share some things I'm considering. I'm only getting a couple of these things so if anyone has any experience with any of them, please comment & let me know if your little one likes it, doesn't like it, etc.

Melissa & Doug Latches Board

Genius! My daughter loves nothing more than the buckles on her carseat & baby stroller. She spends so much time hooking & unhooking them. Melissa & Doug got it spot on with this one I think.

Radio Flyer Stroll & Go & Grow & Go Tricycles

I've always loved the retro look of Radio Flyer. Deciding between these 2 tricycles but hoping to find one or the other on Craigslist or Ebay. I think I'll stick with the good ol' red unisex color too.

Melissa & Doug Lacing Beads

Another one of my daughters favorite things. She loves playing with her shoes & shoestrings so I'm thinking this would be good for her. Although I have a feeling that if I get this, I'll still find her playing with her shoelaces more than the actual toy.

Mommy Carry Me Please by Jane Cabrera

We actually used to own this book until my daughter had a throw up incident all over it. :(
It ended up in the trash but she asked for it for days after. I may get her a replacement. Used copies are super cheap on Amazon. The pictures are colorful & adorable. I definitely recommend this one.

Nat Geo Really Wild Animals DVD Set

Anything to get her away from Yo Gabba Gabba & Special Agent Oso! She's worn me out on those two. Lately she's been into monkeys & elephants & so I thought this would be better than searching for cool, toddler appropriate elephant videos on youtube. These videos have great reviews on Amazon too. Oh how I love Amazon reviews. Thanks to all those honest product reviewing folks out there!

Melissa & Doug Make A Face Sticker Pad

Yet another cool product from Melissa & Doug. Can you tell I'm a fan? Seriously, I think I would actually have fun doing this with her. Reminds me of my old Lisa Frank sticker obsession days.

Daddy & Me

Fathers day inspired me to shoot this photo of my husband and my daughters matching black converse. Unfortunately, this print wouldn't go with my daughter's nursery color scheme but if it did, I think I'd probably have to hang it. This got me thinking about and looking at nursery color schemes with black and white in them. If and when we ever move, I found one I might need to steal some ideas from. I love the modern look to it but I'd probably throw in some older or antique pieces to balance it out a bit.

What do you guys think? This has a very clean feel to it which I like, however two minutes & my daughter would messy it up no matter what the design of the room! I can see the converse print going well in a room with these colors though.

Good morning world!

Here is my latest nursery photography. This one is cleverly called "Pinwheel." ;) When I was young I used to watch this show called Pinwheel that used to come on Nickelodeon. I still know the theme song to this day. Does anyone else remember this? Anyway, so this print kinda takes me back to my childhood a bit. My daughter spotted this thing before I got a chance to take pictures of it. How it didn't end up squished and filthy I have no idea! My favorite thing about using pinwheel wall art in a nursery is that it's completely unisex. The primary colors are so universal and fun. http://www.etsy.com/listing/98658137/pinwheel-8x12-photography-print-vintage

Here's another I did a few weeks ago. I was sitting on the beach with my husband & daughter when one of those cool little planes pulling a message banner behind it came by. The original message said something like "Escape to Oasis Restaurant." When I took the picture I wanted only the plane & the word "Escape" in the frame so it was a bit of a challenge to do that with the plane moving so quickly & my shaky hands. Could have used a lens with Image Stabilizer for sure on this one. Thankfully, I got the shot. I'm pretty happy with the turnout and think it would look pretty cute in a nursery like the one pictured.  http://www.etsy.com/listing/97156167/message-from-above-8x12-escape-airplane
